Zachary Warhorse Lacrosse plans to launch in fall of 2023 and is currently putting all the pieces in place to bring lacrosse, the fastest game on two feet, to the Zachary area. We are working with area programs, former local players, and PARENTS! to build a strong coaching staff. We are also working with local organizations to find sponsorship and field space for practices and games. Please email us at zacharywarhorselacrosse@gmail.com if you are interested in coaching, sponsorship, or other ways to help our program launch and grow.

Coach Rockwell grew up in NC and started playing lacrosse in 7th grade. He played in high school and went on to play at Greensboro College, a small division three school in NC. He got into coaching when his son William (ZHS '23) started playing at a young age. Paul has coached on multiple teams in the south Louisiana area, from youth, high school, and at the college club level. He has also worked with several clubs across the country to help facilitate his son William’s recruiting process. Paul continues to play in several men's leagues around the country, and is currently the defensive coordinator for Chaos Lacrosse LA, a northshore based high school team. He is a level II certified coach with USA Lacrosse.

Coach Walter played lacrosse at Mandeville High School before attending LSU to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering. While he did not play for the LSU team, he did play for the Baton Rouge Men's Lacrosse Club where he served as president. During this time, efforts were made to help grow the game by hosting camps with professional Lacrosse players. He also served as an assistant coach for the Central High Lacrosse team. He has been a member of the Zachary community since 2015. He is the father of two aspiring lacrosse players, Ezra (2019) and Obie (2022).

To get our program started we will be working with local area lacrosse teams, former players, and USA Lacrosse to run the initial clinics and practices. As we get our teams formed, we will be in need of dependable and dedicated individuals to help coach. NO PRIOR LACROSSE EXPERIENCE NEEDED. What we need (mostly) are parents that are willing to learn the game, willing to teach the kids, that align with the values of this program. As you can tell, our focus is to offer a safe and enjoyable environment for boys and girls to learn and play lacrosse. We believe that through learning this game, young student-athletes learn many of the skills needed in life. Commitment, accountability, perseverance, sportsmanship, and striving for excellence are just a few of the life lessons taught on the lacrosse field.
